The Limestone Heritage Park and Gardens
Situated in the vernacular village of Siggiewi, The Limestone Heritage is a unique 20,000,000-year-old journey, beginning at the very birth of the Maltese archipelago.
At this centre you can experience how our inhabitants used stone, the only natural material on the island, to create places for shelter, worship, burial and for defence.
A multi-lingual audiovisual presentation and a commentary accompanied by music and sound effects in the language of your choice, will take you on a journey through time.
Marvel at life-like dioramas, see at firsthand how stone was cut and dressed, discover an ancient fossilised seabed, face a 30-foot-high waterfall, and an original Punic tomb dating back to 200 BC.
Encounter an array of authentic exhibits and amusing curios, such as the colourful 1937 Dodge Lorry. Wander through typical Maltese architecture and watch a master craftsman carving masterpieces in honey-coloured limestone. Or you can put your hand to work and, under the guidance of our craftsman, you can carve your own souvenir in stone.
Finally relax in the shade of our citrus grove as peacocks roam around freely, or in the comfort of a modern visitors centre, housing a cafeteria and a gift shop selling authentic souvenirs.
The Limestone Heritage has full access to wheelchairs and is available in 12 different languages.
An attraction unique in Europe.
