Palazzo Parisio & Gardens

Originally built in 1733 by the Portuguese Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena, then bought and embellished by Marquis Giuseppe Scicluna in 1898 – this great house is still privately owned and run by the Scicluna family.

Described as a miniature Versailles, it is a glorious showcase of Maltese and Italian craftsmanship at the turn of the 19th century, with lavishly decorated ceilings, murals and frescoes, magnificent antique furniture, paintings and bronzes. The ornate gilded, mirrored ballroom is unique in Malta.

The gardens rank amongst the finest in Malta and have seasonal appeal all year round. The two classic, baroque walled gardens are a charming mixture of Italian symmetry and Mediterranean colour and perfumes. Wander through the orange grove, past cooling fountains, amongst mature and unusual trees and shrubs with 60 species of hibiscus and a vast collection of bougainvillea.

End your visit with refreshments, a light lunch or afternoon tea at Caffé Luna on the garden terraces. Menus are predominantly Italian in style, plus Maltese specialities, freshly cooked to order by our international chefs. A Gift Shop is also available on site, with a fine selection of souvenirs and unusual presents.
